Statistics Canada fielded the Canadian Child Care Worker Survey from February 2 to May 31, 2026, gathering information directly from centre-based child care workers about workplace conditions and staff well-being. The survey aims to better understand what drives recruitment, retention and recognition in the workforce – exactly the evidence the sector has been asking for as it tackles staffing shortages.
