Saskatchewan signs five-year, $1.6-billion extension – $10-a-day now follows kids through kindergarten
The governments of Canada and Saskatchewan have announced a five-year extension to their early learning and child care agreements, running from 2026–27 to March 31, 2031 and worth more than $1.6 billion. A thoughtful change for families and educators alike: as of April 1, 2026, $10-a-day coverage extends to children who turn six while in kindergarten, so they can stay in their programs until the end of the school year.
