Ontario’s updated child care regulations took effect July 1
Amendments to Ontario’s Child Care and Early Years Act regulations came into force July 1, 2026, covering faster access to emergency medications, a wider list of disqualifying criminal offences, and clearer rules on unacceptable conduct.
Alberta made its own change earlier this year, with new incident-notification requirements effective June 1. Read together, the two point to a national tightening of health, safety and conduct standards rather than a single province moving alone.
