Ontario has confirmed municipal space creation targets in pursuit of its commitment to 86,000 net new licensed child care spaces for children under six by December 31, 2026. A provincial recalibration exercise saw 16 of 47 municipal service managers allocated funding for more spaces than previously announced, while 27 saw their allocations reduced – a shift worth watching for leaders planning expansion.
