New CCPA report examines the ‘last mile’ of provincial child care expansion
With the Canada-wide system reaching its five-year deadline, a new CCPA report looks at how provinces are doing on creating spaces – not just lowering fees. As of the third quarter of 2025, only Prince Edward Island and Quebec had achieved the federal access benchmark of 5.9 licensed spaces for every 10 non-school-aged children, underlining how much expansion work remains for the sector.
