New ‘As of Right’ rule lets out-of-province ECEs start working in Ontario sooner
As of January 1, 2026, early childhood educators certified in another Canadian province or territory can work in Ontario for up to six months while completing their registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators. Under the new As of Right route there are no practice-setting restrictions, a meaningful boost to labour mobility as programs across the province work to fill staffing gaps.
