Purpose of this training

This training is designed to prepare TOPP KIDS educators, Program Coordinators, Room Leads, Program Support Managers, and support team members to deliver the Junior Leadership Development Program with consistency, heart, and quality.

This is not only a training on activities. It is a training on how to coach children into leadership.

The goal is to help our team understand:

  • what the Junior Leadership Development Program is
  • why it matters
  • what children should experience in it
  • how educators guide and coach the process
  • how we assess growth and readiness
  • how we build the pathway from Mentorship to Junior Leadership to Mentor and L.I.T.
  • how we create real leadership opportunities for children in the program, school, and community

Training outcomes

By the end of this training, team members should be able to:

  1. Explain the purpose and philosophy of the TOPP KIDS Junior Leadership Development Program.
  2. Describe the pathway from Mentorship to Junior Leadership to Mentor and L.I.T.
  3. Identify the core leadership qualities and skill areas the program develops.
  4. Run intake, goal-setting, reflection, and periodic assessment processes.
  5. Facilitate meetings, projects, and child leadership opportunities with structure and consistency.
  6. Coach children through responsibility, communication, empathy, and follow-through.
  7. Use observation, reflection, SWOT, and progress check-ins to support child growth.
  8. Build leadership experiences that connect to home, school, community, and life after the program.
  9. Understand how educator practice shapes outcomes.
  10. Deliver the program in a way that reflects TOPP KIDS culture, values, and expectations
