AECEO and OCBCC call for $35-$45 per hour RECE wage grid in 2026 pre-budget submission
The Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario, together with the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care, has submitted its 2026 pre-budget recommendations, urging the province to fund a pay-equity-compliant wage grid of at least $35–$45 per hour for Registered Early Childhood Educators. The submission notes Ontario is projected to be short an estimated 10,000 RECEs by the end of 2026, with the share of RECEs working in child care falling from 59% in 2022 to 56% in 2025.
